Hey Erik,

>>Greetings All,
>>
>>I just got off the phone with Dell Computers trying to find out the difference between the Latitude and Inspiron noteboks. The answer I got was that Dell will support running NT on the Latitude but not the Inspiron.
>>
>>I asked if they knew of any problems running NT on an Inspiron and I got "I've heard good things and bad things" from the customer service rep.
>>
>>Is anybody out here running NT (Workstation or Server) on an Inspiron? The Inspiron seems to have as many features, if not more, for a lesser price.
>>
>>Thanks in advance!
>
>I am also interested in this. My primary development machine is an Inspiron, and I am about to install NT workstation so I can develop with some of the backoffice stuff. I haven't heard about a lack of support, but I've got a theory- I think that the different pricing structures of the Latitude and Inspiron are the result of a huge Bureaucracy at Dell, and their official policy of not supporting NT on the Inspiron is an effort to sell the more expensive Latitude to big businesses who can't afford to risk an 'I told you so'. A close friend is a corporate sales rep for Dell (I live in Round Rock, TX, Dell's home base). I'll ask him when I next talk to him.

I'll be anxiously waiting here by my keyboard since I need to make a decision fairly quick...I'll be sitting here, holding back from dialing Dell's 1-800 sales line. <g>

Thanks for your help on this....
