>the other pc is up and running with iis installed thanks. i can see the machine now and it will even return file to me if i use http://ipaddress/index.htm but i have hit a new problem, it will not return any file with an asp extension! i have gone into inetmgr and even given full right to everything on a temp basis but no joy, any ideas?

>>>the ip address that i need to link to has no domain name associated with it. it was being used as a remote access computer until this project. i had thought that once a computer had a static ip address then this would be ok even without a domain name but i am not sure if there is a way around it.
