I thought Vapor Trails was an exceptional album, one of their best. Secret Touch is one of my favorite Rush songs. Though I did miss Alex's solos a bit. Several friends that were not prog-rock or Rush fans were really impressed by it.

I heard that it had been re-mastered. Audiophiles (of which I'm not) had said the engineering on the original release was horrible.

If you haven't heard them, check out the Dixie Dregs. Also, Allan Holdsworth - a big influence on Alex.

Regards,

E.R.

>Alex said that he purposely held back on Vapor Trails (I think there was only one guitar solo) and that wouldn't be the case on the new CD!!

>Did you read Neil's Ghost Rider book? It's a fascinating read.

>I saw Yes on the Going for the One tour, Tull for the "A" tour, and Bruford with King Crimson. Rush - every tour beginning with Hemispheres.

>Alex actually has several lead guitar breaks on Vapor Trails, but they are different from anything he's ever done before. Tracks like Earthshine, Nocturne, and Out of the Cradle have some great guitar work. I know that some Rush fans didn't like Vapor Trails, but I admired the fact that they tried something different. I didn't follow Rush until the Moving Pictures tour (when I first saw them).

>Going For The One is one of my favorite Yes albums. Years ago I could play most of the keyboard parts of "Awaken" - what an awesome song that was.

>I agree, a Progressive Rock thread would be great!
