Hi Arto,

FWIW, the new laptops with intel dual core processors do have a much better battery life.
My Dell D620 with 85wh + 48wh (in DVD rom ext. bay) has a battery of approx 10 hours. A huge improvement over the previous generation. Newer dual core processors are even more energy conservative, so I expect to see battery life to be even better in the future.

My previous, 4 year old laptop was a multimediamedia laptop. Powefull P4 desktop processor, 64 MB nvidea graphics. Battery life never was beyond 1.5 hours, and as the battery got older, at last it could not hold out much longer than lets say 30 minutes.

Walter,

What has Apple done better that let say their closest competitor Sony 17" laptop with 90 min battery life?

>There has been talk about using Windows OS in Apple now when they have Intel CPU in Mac Book Pro. I'v red that Apple is supporting that in near future (this autumn). Does you know if this support needs a new hardware or only a new Apple OS. If it is a hardware based update then I should consider buying Apple after new version of laptop but if it is software based, I can do it now. Have you any experience of Above mentioned model (or 15") or can you suggest new Intel based Apple over Intel based Win laptop or vice versa?
