>>You didn't say for which reason Turkey sucks. To paraphrase someone, how am I supposed to know what's going through your mind or what you're griping about ...? :-)

>I'm sorry, I really thought it was obvious from the title of the article, the first couple paragraphs and the fact that the entire article is pretty much about the government's prosecution of anyone who insults them. My bad. It just so happens that what he wrote about were the events in 1915. Did you read it?
Yes. And I thought "only some 25 years earlier the US had still been up to massacring minorities". To my shame I discovered recently that even the British, in Canada, had infected First Nation people with smallpox via infected blankets. I'd thought only the US had done that. This is forgetting the suckiness of slavery (not sure about NC but SC was "a sultry clime / where we used to work in de summertime / ...", apartheid, "Mississippee Burning"-like incidents, etc. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".
Censorship of such attrocities does suck, sure. However, ignoring the warmth of the turkish people, that of its climate, its archeological and cultural treasures, its vibrant culture, its architectural wonders, its history, the unique designed leaning toward the West (as an islamic nation) ... its readable alphabet! et al, I wouldn't say that Turkey as a whole sucks.
