>>>Doh! Ok, that was pretty funny then. I used to love the commercial we had over here for Palamer All Fruit. Are you familiar with it?

>>No, I wasn't aware you guys ate fruit - I thought it was all TV dinners, fast-food and ice cream :-)

>There are a bunch of people sitting around a table, all British except for one heavyset, obviously American guy. They are eating breakfast, toast or something like that, and everyone keeps asking very proper and polite, "Please pass the Palamer All Fruit." When it gets time for the guy to ask, he goes, "Please pass the jelly!" in a very country-American accent. The people at the table do various things like gasp, faint and I think a dog even covers his eyes with his paws. I thought it was very funny.

I think you (or someone else) has described that ad before.

What's worse is that the Brits would call it "jam" (or "marmalade" if the jam is citrous fruit-based, and esp. if it's got zest and/or rind in it). "Jelly" is the wobbly stuff for dessert (as goes in a trifle). Apart from that - never heard of it so I doubt your average Brit would even raise an eyebrow :-)

How's the Hamsey Runt coming on lately, BTW?
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
