>It's background color of the text in the field not the background color of the field itself. No text - no background color. You can put opaque shape under transparent field and change the color of the shape instead.
Thank you for correcting me. I never use backcolor for reports, and thought it behaved just like backcolors in grids. I did not occur to me that the behavior for reports was different, but when thinking of it, it sounds reasonable.
