The base camps sound very cool. Tanglewoody - well, except for the martial arts part <g>

Notice that special guests have included Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer - two of my favorites - and Futureman - the 'percussionist' of the Flecktones. ( though that hardly describes what he is /does. )

I am mostly familiar with Wooten in the context of the Flecktones, though I recently picked up one of his solo albums and was not disappointed. A really special kind of genius - reminds my in a way of Stanley Jordan in that he does things with his left hand that are really outside the normal chops of base players.

>>Speaking of being spoiled - I have the opportunity to go to the races this weekend in Richmond, VA and get in the pits and meet the drivers. Can't wait!

You really are a Southern Girl <bg>

>Actually no, I haven't, but I've seen Victor play solo a couple of times. I am spoiled - his SIFU, Brian Edwards, is a good friend of mine and I met him through Brian. Brian has some Wing Chun schools here in this area and he trained Victor years ago in the Virginia Beach area. Victor is the most generous, good hearted person I have ever met in my life. Paul Hargett - author of Victor's biography - is a friend of his as well. His talent is amazing and he is very low-key. Speaking of being spoiled - I have the opportunity to go to the races this weekend in Richmond, VA and get in the pits and meet the drivers. Can't wait!

>>>I can get you Victor Wooten (or any of the Wootens), Dave Mathews, any of the Allman Bros members, Steve Bailey, or Steve Tyler - will any of those suffice? Of course, that is only if admission is guaranteed! :o)
>>
>>Since my eye caught Victory Wooten I have to ask if you've ever seen Bela Fleck and the Flecktones in concert? No to be missed !

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
