When I made the fields nullable and made sure the value was null, they come in as blanks. However, when I try to save a record back to the table that has an empty date, I get an error "File message.dbf does not exist". (There are no references to a message.dbf in any of my code.)

I tried changing the text value to "null" before saving but got the same result. What do I need to do?
