Jim,

>I've been a skeptic but have been coming around for some time now. I now do think there is a global warming happening and that people are to blame.
>Your links are both dated and in at least 1 case actually argue FOR the case of global warming.

Every time that Mt. St. Helens farts, it puts more CO2 in the air than all the cars in the state of Washington do for a year combined.

I agree with you that global warming is happening, but manmade contributions are generally estimated at about 4-5%. So even if we eliminated all manmade contributions to greenhouse gasses it wouldn't make much of a difference.

The last time we were in a global warming scenario the mastadons were ruling the Earth and I don't recall reading what SUVs they were driving.

>Some scientists today like to take the counter position so they can get themselves into the media. The fact is that NOW, as opposed to 3 or more years ago, the huge majority of scientists agree that there is something going on and that it is extremely dangerous to our future.
>Yes, they could be wrong. But doesn't it just make good sense anyway to not be wasting energy and things regardless?

Yes, most scientists do agree. But, NO, they don't agree on root causes. And,yes, it makes good sense to conserve energy and reduce emissions but let's not use ill-informed "scare science" to do it. And that's my big problem with "global warming": we're using politically shaped statistics and that, my friend, is ALWAYS a bad thing.
