Nope, I am not trying to disprove your claim because it is entirely valid - I am simply suggesting that different scenarios have different realities.

No. It was a VFP/SQL server client/server type application. The business wanted a workflow driven solution and VFP would not talk to the workflow engine/server. The accounting system is not written in .NET but, it has a .NET integration API.

Precisely and I think this is what I have suggested in point 1 above.
