How will you provide your dotNET skills to the millions of companies resisting Intuit's attempts to convert them to a C/S backend?

Companies like that comprise 90% of the market.

Those figures don't come from people I claim I met at a fan club for my favorite tool, they come from published statistics.

That huge market is tailor-made for VFP-style solutions. Try as you might, you can't make that huge market disappear just because you failed to attract VFP developers.

My advice to you re dotNET is "go to it". You can do well there- it is a huge arena with constant change and opportunity. You don't need to trash VFP to validate your position.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
