Yes it was actually kind of sad. I'm sure the guy who won, did so because he was the lesser of two evils. Several weeks before the election there were stories of how he had pursued the same strategy he was slamming his opponent for. He lambasted the guy all over tv for taking money from someone he had solicited himself.
