Here's a quick update:

My client got the application to install by running setup.exe from the DOS prompt. Actually, it was my client's "computer guy." The funny thing is, my client tried to install it from the DOS prompt earlier today without success.

A deja news search retrieved about 20 articles with the phrase "not a valid win32 application." One of the threads involved installing Borland's C++ setup.exe from a fast CD-ROM. I still haven't see a clear expanation, though. This is really wierd.

I'll be at my client's office on Wedsnesday to examine his system.

>I received a call from a client today who can't install my FPW 2.6a application under Win 98. The setup disks were created with the FPW 2.6a Distribution Kit. When he tries to run setup.exe, he gets a message that says:

>I hope this is just a fluke. I'm going to ship 200 copies of this shrinkwrapped application on Monday. Most of the copies will go to current users who have been running older versions of the product under Win 95 for years without problems, but I imagine that a dozen or so will wind up on new machines running Win 98.

>Hopefully, the problem is just with the setup.exe file, and not with FPW 2.6 itself. I'm going to buy Win 98 tonight and try to duplicate the problem, so I'll know more tomorrow. Meanwhile, I'd sure like to hear some opinions
