Coding, syntax & commands
Good thought but the app doesn't have a config.fpw. There doesn't seem to be an explicit setting for Compatible so one would think the default setting, Off, would be in effect. I suspect it wouldn't matter anyway. The help file states that Compatible affects "LIKE( ), PLAY MACRO, SELECT( ), and STORE (when STORE is used with arrays)." None of those commands are even used in the application.
The client is obviously more tolerant of the intermittent flakiness and occasional disappearing data than I am--possibly because she knows it will cost money to fix it. Also, she works remotely much of the time and rarely experiences the problems herself. Some people do seem to have more trouble than others. Is it something that they do differently? If so, what? For now, perhaps the best I can do is treat the symptoms by applying one more kludge to this already convoluted application.
