You make it sound like some high-paying pageant. That doesn't sound like the Afghanistan I have read about in the news, and it doesn't sound close to what is going on anywhere around Baghdad. Not disputing Memphis crime statistics, I'm sure they're on the high side FOR AN AMERICAN CITY, but it isn't a war zone where every step you take might be your last. It's no place for cowboys.

Who would you be working for? One of the private "security" companies that provide protection for visiting dignitaries, news reporters, etc.?

I hope cooler heads prevail, either yours or your wife's.
