No, Walter. You are simply not willing to concede the point. The Soviet Union would not have collapsed if it were not for pressure from outside. If it did not have to constantly compete with the West (championed by the US), it would have been more than capable of handling its internal problems. This theory is not my own personal observation, it is fact well illustrated by numerous studies of both the USSR and the Cold War.
