I'm working on a similar project where we're posting data to a PHP script.

We're using Rick Strahl's wwHttp class that ships with wwIPstuff ($129) from www.west-wind.com. The wwIpStuff components (vcx's and dll) add less than 100K to our distribution after compression and do not need to be registred like traditional ActiveX components. This makes distribution and support simple.

This approach is SO MUCH better than trying to mess with Internet Explorer which, IMO, has too many dependencies, dozens of versions to worry about when you need to answer support calls, and uses significantly more memory resources than Rick's solution. To see what I mean, fire up Windows Task Manager and see how much memory IE is using after you've used it for awhile via automation. I think you will be shocked.
