Use Windows Presentation Foundation for the UI and pattern it after Office 2007. You could have a big jump on the competition. By reading other members post. C# has better implementation of generics ( franckly I don't know what it means ), finer control of UI etc. & also VB.net may be killed since MS may not be able to pump the money into VB development when C#, VFP, IronPython etc. is doing so well :)
