Thanks for the response however our volume has been set up as a share with the same name. The code works fine on machines which are running office 97.

After further investigation it appears the behaviour of SaveAs has changed in Excel 2003, in that you can't overwite your open file even to update it to the latest version.

Any further thoughts?
