You are right about the network connection. Whether you have a mapped drive on another computer or an SQL server connection, you need the network

A couple of things to check as far as I can see

(1) Hybernate
Control Panel | Power options
Set both System Standby and System hybernates to NEVER

(2) My computer | Properties | Hardware | Device Manager
then right click on the wireless network adapter and take Properties | Advanced

Set the power savings to OFF or something similar ( I have mine set to CAM = Constantly Awake Mode)
