Dan,

The only problem I have with suggesting Powell as a link to those who believed in the case for WMD, is I believ Powell was duped by the administration. So suggesting Powell as a test case is to support the case that the administration did willfully lie to the american people. And to support my position that some in the administration had their own reasons for wanting to attack Iraq, besides terrorism.

In case you did not see the PBS documentary last month, Larry Wilkerson, Powell's chief of staff, was one of those interviewed. He is one of the ex-govt employees to come forward and talk about the Cheney-Rumsfeld cabal. In the documentary, Wilkerson discussed how most of Powell's talking points were supplied by the administration. At the time Powell did firmly believe in them.

However, Wilkerson went on to discuss the depressive state of Powell as he would come out of his office to announce that the evidence had disproved another of his talking points. The one thing that Wilkerson regreted was that upon the first instance of Powell coming out to announce it was proven he told a lie, Wilkerson put together a letter of resignation. That he left in his drawer for several months before actually handing it in.
