Come on out to a July twin bill. Pitching the first game will be Carl Karsten. His topic: How to use MYSQL as a backend for Visual FoxPro applications. Carl has been technical proof reading of Whil Hentzen's soon to be published book on MYSQL. See a very detailed table of contents at http://www.hentzenwerke.com/catalog/mysqlvfptoc.htm

The on the mound for the second frame will be Nick Neklioudov talking about The Hidden Powers of Drag and Drop. Nick, who lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, will be in town for a conference for a week coinciding with our regular July meeting. He surprised use with an offer to speak just when we were head scratching to recover from a late cancellation for another out of town speaker.

This isn't Nick's first Chicago presentation. He did the same for us a couple of years ago -- volunteering to show us the new features of VFP 8. Nick is member of the Universal Thread staff and a very creative programmer who is always eager to show others some interesting techniques. He has done this presentation in Dallas and San Francisco.

Nick's words: "Drag & Drop functionality is common in Windows applications and typically requires adding the code to every control to support Drag & Drop operations. However, there is a way to implement it without changing a single line of code in your existing form controls. "

When their arms get tired, Mike Hogan will come on in relief with a short show on resizing images for best quality.

It is great to be in such a congenial community that we get unsolicited offers. And it doesn't hurt that we live in such a great commercial crossroads -- with a world championship baseball team.

Same time same place Tuesday July 11. Monadnock Building 53 W. Jackson. Suite 826. 5:30 in the evening. Reserve August 8 to hear Greg Green.
