I'd never really studied the property and with its misleading name I'd assumed that it was like saying "This object is bound to the stipulated control source" i.e. that anobject can have a control source but isn't actually bound to it till you set this :-)
Seemed a bit strange in that older VFP didn't have the BounTo prop
