Man, it's MAGIC! You can feel every one of those 4,000-odd years from the earthworks and standing stones. Even the medieval church, plonked there as a christian stamp on a pagan (druidic) place. You can keep nearby Stonehenge - this area's got everything, including West Kennet Long Barrow (which you can go in and is made of a stacked stone and boulder, like, igloo, covered with earth mound)
