I was forgetting about two common problems for reports (once again, I suspect it is similar for printers): that the report saves information about a specific printer (that should only cause problems if you later try to print onto a different printer, and I don't think it affects the report selection). The other problem, which may have bitten you in this case, is that the report has a specific table in its data environment. This should be taken out of the data environment, and the report should just be based on the currently selected cursor (or filtered table, but I find cursors more convenient).
