OK. Just don't forget to THINK for the man. That's what any boss wants, even when they aren't thinking the most clearly themselves.
Maybe the best way I've ever heard it expressed was by a boss, two levels up, at Kraft soon after they had been bought by Philip Morris. He was an old PM guy who took an unaccountable liking to me and gave me the job over a scary number of applicants. He liked to do that "Ah'm just a Southern boy with that dirt still coming up between mah toes" thing. He knew I knew and I knew he knew I knew and it went that way, sort of an organizational specialty. When he made me the job offer he said one thing I have not forgotten. "You got your free reign, son, that's why we're doing this, but if ah squeeze you ah want to get something back."
