Thanks for the suggestions, but I was hoping for some way to query the FoxPro cursor for this information rather than asking Excel because the client might be using Lotus spreadsheets. I never know in advance what type of spreadsheet they will use (although it must be one of the types supported by VFP EXPORT TO and APPEND FROM).

Is there any way to get the column names from the FoxPro cursor created from APPEND FROM?
