Simple. You really need two report variables for this.
>Please consider the sample rpt layout below.
>
>The Route totals are at a group footing, totalling when group Route changes. So the values (in the 1st 2 totals: 370 and 400) are calculated, via Report Expression dialog, by the total fields being the same as the cursor fields: Trip1 and Trip2 (i.e their columns) and, via teh "Calculations" button -> Calculate Field dialog and "Sum" radio button selected.

>Trouble is, I need to do some maths on the 2 total fields, working out the percentage difference between them (in this example - 8%).

So how do I refer to the calculated totals fields, in the %age field in order to produce its equation?>
>I suppose there may be a similar problem in getting the tot of tots, e.g. Operator and Scheme totals but I haven't come to them yet.

If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
