No problem. With slight modification to the generated code, I have been able to launch my form w/ grid & checkboxes through code.

The solution is to define the checkbox class as well, and ensure the 'Value' property is a logical not 'zero', and then add the checkbox to the column programmatically in one of the init stages of the grid
