>Does VFP run faster in the development environment than in the runtime environment? I didn't think so but I have 2 basically identical PC's one used for development and the other (my user's) ion which the compiled runtime is installed. My routines run in about 5 minutes on my PC and take over an hour on my user's. My gut tells me the problem lies with the user's PC and not with VFP but the maintenance crew can't seem to find anything wrong with the second PC.

I've never noticed a difference in run times. VFP is interpreted, whether from the command line in the development IDE or a compiled program, and things happen at the same speed in both environments. I think you're right on with your gut feeling -- which, if your married, your wife will tell you to always go with your (gut) feeling - they're such touchy feely thingy’s. Check out memory utilization, try using the Task Manager as a poor mans runtime monitor, sell them a faster computer with fiber optic SCSI, tell them to only run the job at lunch time (that way they'll be out to lunch while their computer is).
