Mark, I've solved the Local SQL query (with help of SYS(3054), coding the SELECT by hand rather than using View Designer ;)) ...however I am still unable to optimize the Remote View to MSSQL 6.5 - again, my performance problem seems to be the large table of 500k rows doing a table scan rather than utilizing the primary index - it's a simple key, so that can't be the problem(?) Another SQL Remote View uses a 4-column compound key with CONVERT() on a datetime, and that works OK.
