There is something still wrong there. In load event grid is even not there (not inited yet). Why would an assign method would fire?
If there is a DE beforeopentables fires before form.load (but not a grid init or an assign method of its properties).
Also assign to fire there should be an assignment. Where does that assignment coe from before load?
