I agree with you completely, but I am lost as to how to get MSFT to fix it. Afterall, MSFT may not even consider it a serious problem given the benefits of the new report writer. I wonder how much of it was simply to take advantage of GDI+ in Windows - afterall many printers (host-based or GDI printers) have done just that - rendering is not even done on printers anymore but by the OS. That is how we are able to purchase such cheap color printers these days.
>Yes, I understand how to turn off all of the nice new features. I just don't understand why we have to accept that for an answer. Why does everyone think it's ok to do without the new features if we want speedy report printing? Why did we upgrade? The reporting engine was supposed to be the big deal for this new release. But it's functionally unuseable with this slowness issue. Our users will not tolerate standing around a printer for an hour. So again I ask if anyone knows if Microsoft intends to do something about it? If not, all that hard work on the new engine was wasted time and money for them.
