>Most of the fires are quite a bit north of us here. But if it's anything like last year, it'll move down the 17 again. A real PITA when it comes to trying to beat the heat in the valley by heading north for the weekend. :( It does look pretty eerie when you're out on the west side of town and can see the red glow mainly to the north at night.

The fires are well south of me at the moment as well, but showing all signs of getting really big before giving up. :-(

We've had a number of smaller fires in the immediate vicinity (Lake Sherwood, Camarillo) that were a little weird. The mountains (?) took the smoke up high enough we couldn't smell it but the sunlight turned a strange orange. We knew there was a fire and we knew it was close, but we had no idea where it was.

Weather forecasters are talking about 110 degrees in downtown LA this weekend (which means higher temps for the valleys, where I am). It's not looking good for firefighters.
