Alan,
You're CCing but I didn't say anything like if you append as general it'd be same as text. When appended as a general the codes are processed with default RTF handler server on your PC (which might be a different one on another PC). All I said was since it's stored as a text you could put into a memo instead. If you do not process the content with an RTF handler (like RTF activex still you'd just see text and RTF codes).
If you use RTF general field on report then you should take into account possible heighest content beforehand.
