Hi Alex,
>What if the Turkish side of Cyprus starts kidnapping citizens from your side. What if they start shelling cities on your side (again). Would you stand idle and not respond?

Cannot comment much on Cyprus politics, since I am not born Cypriot
(I am Serbian), but things like this and worse were happening here
30 years ago, and whole thing ended up with Turkey invasion.

>Remember that Israel is a very small country surrounded by hostile neighbors with huge areas, huge population, unmlimited funds, and almost all of them with a hatred of Jews. If the Arab countries stand idle when atacked, they might lose a city or a few miles along the border (as it happenned before). If Israel stands idle it dissappears.

>You should also remember that Israel is a democracy and has many Arab citizens. I rather be an Arab in Israel than a Jew in Lebanon.

Aldough being small country surrounded by Arabs, Israel is as everybody
knows, only real powerhouse in the area with unprecedented
military power/per capita that world ever known.
Being democracy/civilised country should also imply, that there should be
well designed set of rules-of-engagement - when military might is concearned.

What is happening now (and that is not what you see on CNN), looks like
sadistic, revenge minded destruction of entire country, rather then limited scope military operation, one could expect to get captured soldiers back.

Too much arrogance and violence, that Israel is excersizing right now cannot yield nothing good on short or long run, just more enemies and less friends.

And at the end,
I do blame Israel state very much - for mishandling little fire into big one - that might burn (my) entire neighbourhood.

I respect your judgment/opinions quiet a bit, so I firmly believe that you will not brand me with Anti-Semit as someone already did.

Let's all pray that this destruction and loss of human lives will somehow stop.
Peace to all.
