>>There is a picture in the current issue of Newsweek (U.S. weekly news magazine) that really bothered me. It is of a Lebanese child lying dead in some godforsaken rubble. The victim could have been a young Israeli kid and it would have hit me exactly the same way. These poor kids don't have any say in the matter, they were just born into age-old hatreds that never end. He or she (it isn't even clear which from the picture) should be discovering life, full of childlike wonder, not barefoot and face down in the dirt.

>I saw a picture today in our one of newspaper; an israeli child writing some derisive lovely messages to Lebanese children on an Israel bomb. Saddly what did told her so that child can write messages like that?

It goes both ways, Metin. And it's never going to change, if it ever does, until both sides stop trying to present themselves to the world as blameless victims.

Why can't nations figure out what ordinary couples figure out every day? I am sure you have been there as many times as I have, as many times as we all have. Some argument erupts between a man and a woman and both sides get angry. After a while, if the relationship is worth a damn, one side offers an olive branch, even if they don't think they were wrong. The relationship is more important than who was right in whatever the hell the argument was about. They kiss and make up. That just doesn't seem to happen between Middle Eastern nations. It's more like a cage match to the death.
