>He said
>"Howard is right. Women are only good for rearing babies and little more. They should all be submissive. It says so in the Bible.
>I thought you knew, but just in case, let me teach you the truth:"
>before the quotes, and nothing more. I don't see where has he interpreted any of the quotes.

You need to re-read his message then. I tried to find it - but - couldn't. Where he lists the verses, he adds comments that are not found in the Bible.

>
>>Eve was created as a "helper - suitable for Adam" - see Genesis 2:18.
>
>But in the text to which you supplied the link, it says "In the creation account of Genesis 1 we find God's first word on the subject of men and women (verse 27)--they were both equally created in the image of God. Neither received more of the image of God than the other."
>
>So how is this "helper" also "equally created". Or is "equally created" completely different from "equal"?
>

I explained that - as you quoted later in this message...

>> Adam was created first - eve was second.
>
>Right. He was the test run, she was the final product :).
>
>>God's design was for Adam to lead and for Eve to follow. They are "equals" in that (quoting from the link) "they were both equally created in the image of God. Neither received more of the image of God than the other. So the Bible begins with the equality of the sexes. As persons, as human beings, as spiritual beings, standing before God, men and women are absolutely equal." As to their roles, they are not equal - the man is to lead in love - the woman is to submit to that leadership.

>Ahh... "have you forgotten doublespeak, Winston?" (1984).
>
>So what if he's too busy to notice the desire (that God instilled) in her, or if she has the despise (that God instilled) against him? Is she to submit unconditionally? How is that different from slavery?

Slavery is involuntary - marraige is not. A woman better be sure she is willing to submit before she agrees to do so... In cases where a husband is not treating his wife with respect, the wife would need to follow the pricinples in Matthew 18 regarding church discipline.
