We have discussed this before. The Bush Administration's political litmus tests have been a disaster for American science. Previous administrations of all political stripes didn't do that, recognizing scientific innovation as a national resource.

>I've seen articles that discuss this very idea. Research is continuing in other countries at a rapid pace. It became extremely hard for scientists to immigrate here after 9-11. After bush got thru gutting the scientific field, the scientists no longer wanted to try to immigrate here.

>>>His 1st veto too. I'm quite disappointed about this. There probably isn't enough to over-ride this veto today, but soon there will be.
>>
>>Slowing down technological research in our country.
>>
>>Be assured, stem cell research will continue. We'll see results from this research in our lifetimes. Nobel Prizes will be awarded to the people that find cures based on stem cells. It is just that these technologies, Nobel Prizes, patents and resulting moneys (lots of it) will not be from the USA.
>>
>>We'll become a technological follower, not a leader. That's what we want and why we vote for GWB. Amen.
