I have the impression that I have greater control with APPEND BLANK / REPLACE. Mainly, I am already located on the record that is being changed, so I can do a TableUpdate() for the record I just updated, and see if the TableUpdate() was successful.
Probably the same can be done with INSERT INTO, as well; perhaps it is just my lack of experience, with this particular variation, that I don't know how to handle all the details.
