>>>Now that's REALLY interesting...Can you tell me what it means to you to be a Christian? I always presumed that when a person said they were a Christian that they meant the followed the teachings of Christ. It appears you are using it in a different way - just want to know what you mean...

Howard, once again, I think maybe you've made the assumption that belief in God, and even Jesus is the same thing as belief verbatim in the Bible. That is your way of faith. It is not necessarily everyone's. I am still of the belief that the Bible was written by men. Men are not infallible, and they were very likely swayed in their writing by their own wants, desires, beliefs, and hopes. You are taking those men's desires and beliefs and interpreting them as words from the mouth of Jesus. I can point you to any number of books you like in which words are placed in quotation marks. They are fiction. I have no definitive proof that the Bible is any different.

Personally, I am not a believer. Still, I have tried not to insult you, or to call you names etc. And that is because I have my own personal beliefs (many of which were passed on from my parents, of course) about how people ought to treat each other. It is completely, and I do mean completely, unnecessary for me to believe in the Bible, Jesus, or God in order to try to run my life with what I consider to be decent human values. I do not break the law. I do not knowingly hurt other people. The golden rule is a great way to live as far as I'm concerned, and it doesn't have to be connected to a religion of any sort.
