As I understood it, you removed comments.

Where's the "rewriting" in that... not a single byte of executable code was changed.

I've often inserted comments into OPs code that I work with. And of course I have to test it to make sure I didn't blow it somewhere. But I do not consider adding (or removing) comments as "rewriting" code.
