Jim, I am also in the position to make small or no changes in some large specific package, and add many more comments along the line. My way of verifying the scope of changes (making sure no unintended fumble fingers of mine were busy) is refox: I refox the previous and current version and compare only the "running code" - sometimes oodles faster than a big test suite.
