>>Of course, "better" is a relative term...what's better to me is obviously not better to you. I'm happy with my life - my wife is happy with her life as well. I really don't see why that offends so many of you.
>
>Why that offends some people is indeed a very tricky and complicated issue, but I will try to give a summary, the way I see it. Three points are especially noteworthy:
>
>1) Despite your assertions about there being a difference between women being subservient to men (or what was the term?) and women being opressed by men - or something to the effect - many still consider this point of view as oppresive against women. The general tendency, nowadays, is to consider women as equal to men - no "buts" and "ifs", and of course no significant exceptions.
>
Women are equal with men - unless they decide to stay at home and be a Mom to their kids - at least that's what I'm hearing from several here...
>2) The fact that it works in your family doesn't mean it will work everywhere.
I've never said that it would.
>The Bible quotation(s), that women should be subservient to men, may very well be used elsewhere as an excuse for opression.
>
That's not me - that's not what I believe - so why be offended at me?
>3) For many people, what the Bible says or doesn't say is quite secondary, especially if it opposes a generally-held belief. (My own point of view is that mankind needs new Holy Scriptures.)
That's your view - mine is different. I would never make fun of you for your beliefs - but - it seems quite fine for others to make fun of mine.
By the way, I don't recall you ever being someone who would insult my beliefs and for that I'm grateful!
