It is possible that the compression is part of the answer. To check this, try to compress the installation program with a program such as WinRAR, WinZIP, or something similar.
See also Sergey's reply, about VFP 9 requiring more components. I didn't think there was such a big difference, but apparently there is. Actually, I had forgotten that the installation program must include the entire VFP runtime. In VFP 6, there is an option to include or exclude the runtime. In VFP 9, you would probably use different merge modules for the same purpose.
