Nadya,

I would be surprised, very surprised if that fixed the problem. Disabling the write cache is a kind of safety against a computer crash. If your pc does not crash and you don't CTRL+ALT_DEL, then it will not help

I guess first have to find a way so it does not error, with transactions on/off, buffering on/off, sys(3050) lower, etc

Do not start saying - we do not want buffering off. Just test whether turning it off works

Once you find a config where it all works, then and only then decide how to proceed
