Hello, John, and thanks for the reply.

>The first question I have to ask is why are you keeping data in some number of local VFP >tables when the MySQL database holds everything?

Agreed. However, let it be known that I didn't write this code, and I suspect
that the original version was a "single-user specific VFP database," and at
some future date the programmer was asked to make the program multi-user compliant.
(Shrug.)

>The normal way would be for all stations to simply access the MySQL database.
> That should solve your problem.

Exactly. That's the way I would have done it, too. Nevertheless, hindsight
is a wonderful thing :^). I might also mention that this is production/live
code, being used as we speak, 24/7/365, and we need to get the original code
to work in a hurry, so a bandaid or "temporary kludge" is totally acceptable.
Hmmm. Now where's that duct tape :^).

Seriously, we'll get around to rewriting the code the correct way, John.
Right now, we need a quick fix, and I was thinking/hoping that someone
around here might have run into the same problem and know of a quick
solution. So, I guess the original question still stands :^)

Later,

Randall

I eat spaghetti code out of a bit bucket while sitting at a hash table! Someone
asked me if I needed salt, and I said, "I'm not into encryption." :^)
