The book does state alot of things but at the same time still leaves alot unsaid.... one of those things about Foxpro I quess.... thank god for this forum though. It did mention something about a limit but I didn't completely grasp the concept and since I'm replying to you from home and don't have it in front of me I'll look into it deeper tomorrow and let you know anyway. My workaround was to set the control source of my editbox to the memo field and save the original contents when the memo edit button is clicked and restore the contents if the user bails.... hey, it's not pretty but it works for me!
