That's an intriguing idea, although I doubt it would work out very well in practice. It seems like most people are raised in the religion of their parents. As it turns out, lots of people do choose a different religion, or no religion, when they reach an age of consent. But you would have a heck of a time getting many parents to agree with such a law.
